The East Coast region of Singapore encompasses such old places as Tanjong Katong, Siglap, Bedok, Padang Terbakar, Telok Mata Ikan, Ayer Gemuruh, Beting Kusah, Teluk Paku, and Changi Village.

The land between the major arterial roads Geylang Road-Changi Road and the east coast was dominated by coconut plantations, many of which were owned by Bugis and Malays.
Main coastal settlements and villages:
- Kampung Amber
- Siglap
- Kg Bedok – three settlement clusters
- Padang Terbakar
- Telok Mata Ikan
- Ayer Gemuroh
- Beting Kusah
- Telok Paku
- Changi Village
