More than meets the eye…
What we see today in the area immediately around Kampung Gelam Conservation District, particularly at Kampung Rochor (Crawford Estate, Hajjah Fatimah Mosque) and Parkview Square (the brown tower after Haji Lane and Ophir Road), presents a drastically altered cityscape resulting from major demolition schemes that affected historic areas of this part of Singapore city between 1965 and the 1980s.
